1. What This Website Is

The UPOU-BAMS Curriculum Dashboard is a web-based reference-sharing platform for Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies students at UP Open University. It allows users to browse the curriculum through an interactive flowchart and, for registered users, contribute course reference materials.

The platform was created by Miguel Ferdinand C. Co as a prototype for the study on collaborative reference sharing through a web-based, database-driven content management system among UPOU-BAMS students.

3. The Home Page

The landing page shows the platform title, an About link for the study and platform, two guide cards, the curriculum flowchart, a visit counter, and a link to the BAMS Program Handbook.

How to navigate this dashboard

  1. Hover over a box to see the course title.
  2. Click or tap a box to open its course guide.
  3. Click or tap Home to return to the home page.

4. The Curriculum Flowchart

The flowchart is the core of the site. It maps the BAMS program across 12 term columns, from 1Y 1T through 4Y 3T, and visually connects prerequisites across courses.

Reading the course boxes

  • Each colored box represents one course and may show prerequisites in parentheses.
  • Some courses list multiple prerequisites or a unit requirement.
  • Arrows indicate the prerequisite path and recommended course order.
  • Colors group courses by type, such as core, elective, and capstone or thesis.

Interacting with a box

  • Hover over a box to view the course title.
  • Click or tap a box to open its detailed course guide page.

5. Course Guide Pages

Clicking a course box opens its course guide page. Each guide shows the course title, year, term, units, prerequisites, description, source link, goal, and outline.

All course guide pages are public and do not require an account to read.

References on each course page

  • Course Guide References for official or curated sources.
  • User-Contributed References for community-submitted materials shown as cards.

Each user-contributed reference card lists the title, course number, contributor, author or authors, publication type, average rating, and an Open Reference action.

6. Creating an Account

To contribute references, a user must first create an account through the Register page or the Create account option from the Login page.
